Vietnam welcomes visitors around the world with an open policy, attractive tourism products and services

On 23rd January 2024, within the framework of TRAVEX 2024 taking place in Vientiane, Lao PDR, Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) held a press conference to provide information and introduce to news agencies, newspapers and international friends about new tourism policies, attractive destinations, diverse tourism products and the beauty of the country.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Nguyen Quy Phuong, Director of Tourism Marketing Division (under VNAT) said: Vietnam has a favorable geographical location. The transportation system is relatively synchronous and is developing towards strengthening connectivity. Human resources are young and abundance. Majestic, beautiful, diverse and amazing nature includes mountains, forests, seas and rivers. The people are hospitable, industrious, flexible, and creative. Stable political system and security and order are maintained.

In recent years, Vietnam has continuously expanded international relations, establishing comprehensive strategic partnerships or strategic partnerships with all 5 permanent countries of the United Nations Security Council and many G20 countries; Signed 16 free trade agreements (FTA) with over 60 countries and major partners; participate in more than 500 bilateral and multilateral agreements.

The above conditions continue to open up opportunities for socio-economic development, especially in the tourism sector. Many new policies have been issued by the Government, creating more favorable conditions for tourists. Vietnam are trying to position its national tourism brand “Vietnam – A safe, friendly, attractive, humane, hospitable, convenient destination”, “warms tourists’ hearts, satisfies hosts”. Determining the motto for the continuous development of Vietnam tourism as “Excellent products – Professional services – Convenient and simple procedures – Competitive prices – Clean and beautiful environment – Safe destinations, civilized and friendly”.

Vietnam tourism has made a strong recovery, achieving encouraging results. In 2023, international tourists to Vietnam reached 12.6 million arrivals, an increase of 3.5 times compared to 2022. Besides, from August 15, 2023, Vietnam applied electronic visas for citizens of all countries and territories with the duration stay raising from 30 days to 90 days and increased duration stay from 15 days to 45 days for citizens of countries with unilateral visa exemption.

Mr. Nguyen Quy Phuong said that Vietnam tourism has been focusing on restructuring the market, innovating products in the direction of diversification, increasing competitiveness and attractiveness. At the same time resuming and opening more international direct flights to Europe, America, Australia and India.

Vietnam focuses on four main product lines: marine tourism, culture and heritage tourism, eco-tourism, and city tourism. Besides, there are also supporting products such as luxury vacation tourism, health tourism, adventure tourism, golf tourism…

“Vietnam is ready to welcome international tourists to fully experience a vibrant Vietnam with beautiful natural landscapes, sunny beaches, rich culture and attractive cuisine” the representative of the VNAT emphasized.

At the press conference, images of Dien Bien Tourism – the locality hosting the Visit Vietnam Year 2024 were introduced to participating delegates, businesses, international partners, and information agencies.
